The Block film & art festival, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was founded by a group of individuals who have a passion for truly independent artistic expression, and a desire to empower and celebrate that art. The festival is only a reality due to the countless acts of generosity from local volunteers, sponsors, and personal donors like you. There are many different ways to support the The Block!

How to Volunteer

About Volunteering
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the The Block. You can add to the excitement of the festival by joining a talented and committed group of film lovers and community supporters. We have opportunities for those who are experienced volunteers at previous organizations and events, as well as those who have never volunteered before. We look forward to your help prior to the festival, or during the event on Friday, October 7th, or Saturday, October 8th. The hard work and diligence of our volunteers help to make the festival a success. We could not make the event as great as it is without volunteers like you!

Volunteer Responsibilities
Volunteers and new contributing team members are welcomed year around to help craft The Block event and organization. The tasks may vary based on your skill set and experience. For volunteers the day-of, we ask a contribution of at least four hours time either Friday or Saturday. You are expected to both work hard and have lots of fun! There is a lot of work that needs to be done, but there is also time to make new friends and enjoy the festival. As a valued volunteer, you’ll have the chance to help with festival registration, theatres, hospitality, etc., all while working with a wonderful staff. Volunteering will also give you a unique perspective to see how the festival works.

More Information about Volunteering
Volunteering at the The Block can be a resume-building experience. We are more than willing to provide prospective employers with positive references for jobs well done at the festival, and consider internships when possible.
